How to request gluten-free on Princess Cruises

From Princess Cruises's official information (read October 2026):

  • Princess asks you or your travel consultant to advise it in writing of any special diet or allergy: add it under "accessibility & dietary requirements" in the MedallionClass app, or email dietaryrequest@princesscruises.com.
  • Deadline: at least 35 days before departure for Alaska, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal and Coastal cruises; 65 days for all other cruises.
  • On board, confirm with the Restaurant Manager or Director of Restaurant Operations through the stateroom Dine Line.

General steps that apply on every line:

  1. Declare celiac disease (not just a preference) when you book and on any special-needs or dietary form.
  2. Ask for traditional/fixed dining so you keep the same waiter all week, if the line offers it.
  3. On day one, meet the maître d' or head waiter and pre-order the next day's meals.
  4. Be careful at the buffet: shared utensils and self-service make cross-contact more likely. Ask staff to serve you from the kitchen.
  5. Plan port days and shore excursions with food separately.

What public traveller reports say

Summarized in our own words from public sources we read (October 2026). Each point is one or a few travellers' experience, not a statistic.

positive
A celiac on Grand Princess felt staff were careful about cross-contact and did not get glutened; desserts were a bit repetitive. Others described the head waiter taking the next night's order for a specially made GF dinner, and a travel agent praised Princess's separate allergy prep area.
positive
A commenter with celiac and other allergies who has taken 40+ cruises with Princess, Viking and Norwegian said they have never been glutened: they avoid the buffet, always pre-order, and have the shore-excursion desk warn restaurants ahead.
